Stephen Ministry is a formal ministry system for training and organizing laypersons for caring ministry in our local congregation and the greater community. Lay caregivers (called Stephen Ministers) provide one-to-one Christian care to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced, unemployed, relocated, and others facing a crisis or life challenge.Stephen Ministers are not counselors, but are highly trained lay caregivers who offer special Christian care to people in need of emotional or spiritual support.
Stephen Ministry helps our pastor and congregation provide caring ministry for as long as people need it.This ministry does not take the place of our pastoral ministry; it serves to complement our ministry of giving and compassion to all persons.
Stephen Ministry links our church with over 7,500 other congregations from 100 denominations that are now involved in Stephen Ministry. The Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry that seeks to bring Christ’s care to those in need. Stephen Ministers are well-trained caregivers who also know the importance of remaining connected to Jesus. They trust God to work through them to bring the love of Jesus to their care receivers.
Stephen Ministers grow spiritually and follow Jesus into service. They are transformed by Jesus’ redeeming love and joyfully share what they have received with others in need.
